A Quebec drug trafficker, well known to police circles in the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region, was murdered as he left a gym in Mexico last Tuesday.

Jonathan Bouchard was shot dead in the street in District 5 of Diciembre, Puerto Vallarta.

The 32-year-old man was leaving a gym when he was the target of projectiles, on Jamaica Street, between Brasilia and Guatemala Streets, around 11:20 a.m.

It was journalist Adrian De Los Santos, from local media NoticiasPV, who first spread the news.

Despite the rapid deployment of first aid, the death of Jonathan Bouchard was confirmed.

Son avocat, Me Pierre Gagnon, confirmed to Journal that the man from Quebec had received two fatal shots in the head.

Bouchard was allegedly attacked by at least one individual, who then fled. Considering the murder of a foreigner on site, the event required the deployment of several police organizations.

No suspect has been apprehended at this time.

A well-known trafficker

Jonathan Bouchard is well known in police circles in the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region, he who has a dozen criminal cases to his credit.

He was notably sentenced to 40 months in prison in 2019, following Operation Palme, during which he was arrested with his mother, his brother and three other accomplices.

At the time, he was considered one of the main distributors of drugs from Montreal, to Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean.

Bouchard had already been caught for similar crimes during Operation Insulin in 2012, where he was sentenced to 30 months in penitentiary.

The royalty war involved?

According to information from Dailythe murder of the 32-year-old man would be linked to the conflict over drug trafficking fees, which has been raging among organized crime for several years already in Quebec.

Opponents of the group to which Bouchard was affiliated would have sent one or more henchmen to Mexico to assassinate him, again according to Les Coops de l’information.

An autopsy and an investigation carried out in Puerto Vallarta should shed light on this matter.
