Authorities are currently investigating the death of a woman in MELBOURNE, which occurred last night and is being treated as suspicious. The circumstances surrounding her death are under scrutiny by law enforcement.
The woman, a resident of Noble Park in her 60s, was initially reported missing by a concerned neighbor on Saturday, June 14.
According to reports, one of the woman’s neighbors last saw her on June 7, in the company of an unidentified man outside her residence on Marna Court.
After a week of unsuccessful attempts to reach her, the neighbor contacted police to report her missing.
On Monday, June 16, two days after the missing person report, police located the woman at Dandenong Hospital. She was being treated for injuries believed to be the result of a serious assault.
According to VICTORIA Police, they were able to speak with the woman; though, she died in the hospital yesterday evening.
“At this time,the exact circumstances surrounding the incident that led to her being injured are still being determined,” they said.
“Though, detectives from the Homicide Squad are investigating, and her death is being treated as suspicious.”
Police have stated that her next of kin have not yet been formally notified of her death.
Authorities have interviewed a 62-year-old man from Endeavour Hills in connection with the case. He has been released pending further inquiries.
Police have confirmed that the man was known to the deceased woman.
Authorities are urging anyone with information related to this case to come forward and assist with the investigation.
