European Golden Boot for the first time in his career, Kylian Mbappé is already honored to be mentioned alongside the top scorer in the history of Real Madrid.
Kylian Mbappé received his first European Golden Shoe on Friday and his pride was necessarily significant, as he repeated in an interview with Marca: “In the end, it is a very important reward which makes me very happy, but everyone knows that collective successes are essential. I hope to win another Golden Boot in the future, but most importantly, I hope we win La Liga. If we talk about my current Golden Boot, won thanks to my goals in La Liga (31 last season), my goal this year is to continue this momentum with the team. If we win La Liga and I win another Golden Boot, I will be even happier than today.”
“I can’t compare myself to what he did”
Quickly, the inevitable comparison with Cristiano Ronaldo was invited into the conversation, but a possible thought of doing better than the top scorer in the history of Real Madrid (450 goals in 438 matches) was quickly evacuated by the current number 10 of the Merengue club: “I don’t know how to answer this question. Everyone knows that Cristiano is the reference in Madrid, the number one. I’ve been here a year and a half and he stayed nine years. I can’t compare myself to what he did; my journey is different. I want to follow my own path, but to be mentioned with Cristiano is already a source of pride.”
During a 2025-2026 season which will be full of challenges, Kylian Mbappé affirmed his ambitions to win as many trophies as possible, both collectively (Liga, Champions League, World Cup) and individually (with the Ballon d’Or): “As a competitor, I want to fight for everything. You should not choose just one goal. Of course it’s going to be difficult, but I want to win everything and give my best in every competition. I’m not going to choose one.”
This Saturday evening, it is with the reception of Valencia at the Santiago-Bernabéu (9 p.m.), that Kylian Mbappé and Real Madrid will begin the month of November, with the opportunity to properly celebrate the striker’s first European Golden Shoe.
