Amid the surge of new content releasing on Disney+ in 2025, Marvel Studios is poised to debut six shows on the platform. These offerings include three innovative live-action projects and three exciting animated series, set to launch as early as the end of January.
The lineup kicks off with Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, diving into Peter Parker’s early days as a teenage superhero. Given the show’s lengthy production timeline, Marvel has big plans for its future, hinting at an ambitious roadmap ahead.
New 3-Season MCU Show Breaks Mold for Disney+
Brad Winderbaum, Marvel Studios’ Head of Streaming, Television, and Animation, made headlines by revealing a groundbreaking release plan for Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. In an exclusive interview with The Movie Podcast, Winderbaum discussed his enthusiasm for the show’s plot and character development.
“I’ve fallen so head over heels in love with these characters. I’ve now read all the scripts for Season 2, we’re halfway through the animatics. What Jeff is building brick by brick in this show starts to pay off. You feel it in Season 1, you grow connected to these characters so that when everything’s supposed to lock into place and pay off by the end of the season…I feel it really in my soul, and it just gets deeper and deeper in subsequent seasons.”
Winderbaum also announced that the show is “greenlit…through Season 3.” In a few weeks, he looks forward to hearing the pitch for Season 3 from writer Jeff Trammell, who has already captured his heart with the early scripts.
“We’re also greenlit for through Season 3, and in a couple weeks, I’m gonna hear his pitch for the third season of the show, and I’m like a fan, I can’t wait.”
This is a significant milestone in Marvel’s streaming strategy. No other Marvel Studios show has been publicly confirmed for both Season 2 and Season 3 preshow debut. Loki, What If…?, and X-Men ’97 were among the few with Season 2 confirmed ahead of Season 1’s release, setting the stage for continued strong audience interest.
Marvel Studios’ Future on Disney+
Marvel maintains its momentum in expanding the MCU’s TV universe on Disney+, with more shows on the horizon. Building on the success of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, the studio has planned a mix of animated and live-action projects for 2025.
In the animated realm, expect Eyes of Wakanda and Marvel Zombies. These additions are anticipated to capture a variety of fan interests, with Marvel Zombies leading as the first TV-MA-rated animated series in the MCU, setting a new precedent.
On the live-action front, Daredevil: Born Again kicks off the lineup with nine episodes, premiering on March 4. Season 2 is already in the works, boding well for long-term engagement. Following that, Ironheart and Wonder Man will debut in June and December, respectively.
While immediate plans are clear, Marvel’s calendar remains somewhat speculative beyond 2025. Vision, a highly anticipated series starring Paul Bettany, is set for development, drawing heavily from MCU history. Another solo show centered on the cosmic hero Nova is also confirmed for the pipeline.
Future details will likely be incorporated into Marvel’s broader strategic vision, ensuring a continuous influx of compelling new content on Disney+.
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man will begin streaming on Disney+ on Wednesday, January 29.
Marvel’s strategic foresight in laying out ambitious plans for its Disney+ lineup speaks volumes about the studio’s commitment to its fan base. As these new projects premiere and expand, audiences are sure to find a treasure trove of engaging storylines and characters to explore.
