The journalist Maribel Vilaplanawho spent several hours with the president of the Generalitat Valenciana, Carlos Mazónthe day of the dana of Valencia, has suffered an illness and has been transferred to a hospital, where she is being treated by doctors, according to sources close to her.
Vilaplana, who ate with Mazón on October 29, 2024, the day of the floods that caused 229 deaths in the province of Valencia, is cited in the courts of Catarroja to testify this Monday as a witness before the judge investigating the criminal case for the management of DANA.
Vilaplana can “offer details or nuances that could be of interest to the investigation” and specifically about “the process followed on the afternoon of October 29 in making decisions, which is the subject of the ongoing criminal investigation,” as ruled by the Second Section of the Valencia Court.
The parking ticket
This Friday, the judge required Maribel Vilaplana to contribute in her statement next Monday the parking ticket and any other element that proves the period in which you were with him on the day of the catastrophe.
In an order this Friday, the Catarroja judge assures that she knows until what moment Vilaplana could be present during the calls that were maintained between Mazón and the former Minister of the Interior Salomé Pradas, investigated in this case, makes the requested evidence, obtaining the entry and exit ticket from the Glorieta de Valencia parking lot, useful.
In said order it is already foreseen that If Vilaplana does not have the ticket of the Interparking Glorieta 24-hour parking lot in Plaza Tetuán due to loss or other circumstances, the parking management company is required to deliver it and provide it to the Catarroja court (ticket, receipt or accredited report of entry and exit of the journalist’s vehicle).
According to the judge, in the analysis of the decision-making process in the Integrated Operational Coordination Center (Cecopi) on October 29 of last year and the sending of the alert the study of calls is “relevant” between Pradas and Mazón and whether the journalist could have been aware of those conversations, which makes it useful to know up to what point Vilaplana accompanied Mazón and up to what point he was present during those calls.
