The escape of Nazif Muslija, the 50-year-old of Macedonian origin held responsible for the femicide of his wife, Sadjide Muslija, which occurred yesterday in Pianello Vallesino di Monte Roberto (Ancona), lasted just over 30 hours.

The man, who had escaped in his white Smart car, was found by the Carabinieri lying on the ground, seriously injured, in a wood in the Braccano hamlet of Matelica (Macerata). The man apparently attempted to kill himself, but around 4.30pm a hunter who was in the area noticed him and rescued him before raising the alarm.

The Ancona prosecutor’s office, which will order the autopsy on the woman’s body, had issued an international arrest warrant against the man, accused of aggravated voluntary homicide.

After the day of investigations on Wednesday, the Carabinieri of the Scientific Investigations Section (SIS) returned to the house where the woman lived – found dead on the bed with violent blows to the skull and chest – in search of microscopic traces and the object that her husband would have used to kill her. The military seized an iron construction pipe which appears to have traces of blood and which will now be subjected to analysis.

In the meantime, there is controversy over the path that the man would have had to face in a center for male perpetrators of violence (Cuav) lasting one year. A path linked to his plea deal of one year and ten months in prison for the assaults and mistreatment of his wife. The man had one year to complete the process since the sentence became final in September 2025: he would have had to have meetings every two weeks for a total duration of 60 hours. The man’s lawyer, Antonio Gagliardi, however stated that “there was no place in the association indicated by the route”

The chief public prosecutor in Ancona, Monica Garulli, intervened and spoke of “a story that leaves a bad taste in the mouth”. “It is not possible to treat all cases of violence in the same way. I believe that this case would have deserved a preferential path, which in this case there was not. – stated Garulli – I think that when a structure responsible for the recovery process is identified, to avoid the risk of recidivism it is necessary to understand what the danger of recidivism is and to differentiate the paths according to the seriousness of the facts”.

Even the Anti-violence Center of Ancona, through the president of the association that manages it, Roberta Montenovo, asks for more adequate measures. “A risk assessment should be carried out in anticipation of possible escalation behavior in a negative sense. – underlined Montenovo – Even while awaiting any type of path, measures should be envisaged”.
