LONDON – Manchester United have a limited window to activate the £44 million release clause of former Everton striker Moise Kean, according to reports. The Red Devils are reportedly looking to bolster their attacking options after Rasmus Hojlund’s underwhelming first season.

kean, who struggled to make an impact at Goodison Park between 2019 and 2022, scoring just four goals in 39 appearances, has revitalized his career with spells at PSG and Juventus. He currently plays for Fiorentina.

Last season, kean reportedly scored 19 goals and provided three assists in 32 Serie A appearances, helping Fiorentina secure a place in European competition.

Reports indicate that Kean has a £44 million release clause that can only be triggered during the first two weeks of July. This puts pressure on Manchester United to make a quick decision.

however, Manchester United are not the only club interested in the Italian forward. Arsenal are also said to be monitoring Kean’s situation, possibly leading to a transfer battle between the two Premier League rivals.

Kean has also reportedly garnered interest from Saudi Arabian side al Qadsiah. It is indeed unclear whether he would be willing to move to the Middle East.

Manchester United’s need for a new striker is evident, with Rasmus Hojlund failing to live up to expectations since his arrival at Old Trafford. Other targets, such as Sporting Lisbon’s Victor Gyokeres, are said to prefer a move to Arsenal, while Liam Delap has reportedly chosen Chelsea over United.

Kean’s previous spell in the Premier league with Everton was largely unsuccessful. He struggled to adapt to the English game and faced criticism for his attitude. A notable moment was when then-interim manager Duncan Ferguson substituted him just 18 minutes after bringing him on during a match against United at Old Trafford.
