Madrid: New Heated Bus Shelters for Sierra Norte Towns

The Community of Madrid has installed three new heated bus shelters in Braojos de la Sierra, Gargantilla del Lozoya and Guadalix de la Sierrafor the 8,000 inhabitants of these three towns and reinforcing its commitment to improving the quality of travel in the rural areas of the region.

The Minister of the Presidency, Justice and Local Administration of the Community of Madrid, Miguel Ángel García Martín, visited the Braojeña town this Saturday to learn about this innovative solution in Madrid’s public transportwhich adds to the pilot experience last year when the first heated canopy was installed in Pedrezuela.

The system consists of the placement of metal benches heated with thermostat and timer, that regulate the temperature and adapt their operation to the service schedule of the bus lines.

The new canopies, located in municipalities in the Madrid mountains, have a permanent electrical connection and all the necessary protections to guarantee the safety of passengers. Furthermore, they are made with 100% recyclable materials and incorporate environmentally friendly energy solutions.

The regional Executive, through the Regional Transport Consortium (CRTM), continues to evaluate the performance of these devices innovative, accessible and highly efficient, with the aim of extending its use to more locations in the region.

With this initiative, the Community of Madrid reaffirms its commitment to improving public transport and the quality of life of citizens, especially in rural and mountain areas, where climatic conditions make this alternative especially valuable.
