French President Emmanuel Macron said it would be “useful” for Europe to resume dialogue with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, AFP reported.
“I believe it is in our interest as Europeans and Ukrainians to find a suitable basis for resuming this discussion,” Macron said.

He added that the Europeans must find a way to do this “in the coming weeks”.
In July, Putin and Macron held their first telephone conversation in three years. The two leaders discussed the Ukrainian conflict, the escalation between Iran and Israel and the US strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities. The two sides agreed to keep in touch to coordinate their positions on the Middle East.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the phone conversation between Putin and Macron was to the point. According to AFPreferring to the Elysee Palace, Paris has confirmed its intention to continue the dialogue with Moscow.
