A construction company located in the north of the country must currently face a complicated financial situation. “Some colleagues have up to five months in arrears, I am waiting for two months of salary,” said a reader.

An OGBL spokesperson also confirms that four other people have not been paid. Some are waiting up to four months’ salary. Contacted by Essentialthe director of the company concerned confides that he actually experienced great financial difficulties at the end of last year. This situation would be due mainly to unpaid invoices from several large customers. “I am on trial with a company that owes me 70,000 euros,” says the sixty -something. In total, he would expect more than 300,000 euros from his customers. “I could declare a bankruptcy and retire, because I worked for 42 years. But most of my employees are over 50, I wonder where they could find a job, ”justifies the boss who would like to find a buyer.

Currently, the company has fourteen employees, they were almost forty a few years ago. The director thinks he can slowly go up the slope. “By the end of the year, we will no longer have any debt,” he said. For Robert Fornieri, member of the Directorate of the LCGB, the situation in the construction sector remains delicate, especially for the smallest structures. If he knows the problem of unpaid invoices on the part of customers, he believes that this is not a generalized situation in the sector.
