Also part of the conference were Vice Governor Carlos Silva Neder; the vice president of the Argentine Rugby Union, Héctor Corbalán Costilla; the commercial manager of the Argentine Rugby Union, Miguel Dupont.
The Nations Championship will have a playoff format after six regular phase dates, and Los Pumas already know the venues for the first three games, one of which will be Santiago del Estero with the game on Saturday, July 18, starting at 4 p.m., at the Estadio Único Madre de Ciudades.
Also present at the table were the Chief of Staff, Víctor Araujo; the Secretary of Sports, Carlos Dapello; the Undersecretary of Tourism, Nelson Bravo; the vice president of the Santiagueña Rugby Union, Ricardo Trouve, and the players of the Old Lions clubs, Juan Pablo Enriquez; from Santiago Lawn Tennis, Augusto Mirolo, and from Santiago Rugby, Daniel Pérez.
Before a Forum full of leaders and players of this discipline, representatives of hotel, gastronomic and tourism chambers; ministers, provincial and national legislators, among others, the party was officially presented.
In this context, Dapello highlighted that for the third time Santiago del Estero will host such an important event in world rugby. “This fills us with pride, because Santiago del Estero today is a benchmark for Argentine sports, with international projection and a continuity of more than 20 years in sporting events.”
Dupont thanked “Governor Elías Suárez and those who made this match possible, which is not just another match, it is the last match of the Nations Championship, which is a new tournament that will begin to be played starting this year, which will be played every two years with the 12 best teams in the world.”
In turn, Governor Suárez expressed: “We feel very honored and committed to this designation along with other provinces, such as Córdoba and San Juan, to host an important international championship that makes us Santiago residents very happy to be and be protagonists of an event of this level that brings together the 12 most important teams in the world.”
In another order, he stressed that this event is part of the State policies that are promoted by the Government and said: “We have always said that sports and tourism are State policies, we did it during the last 20 years under the management of former governor Gerardo Zamora, during the management of Claudia Zamora, and we have to continue along that same path, to maintain that Santiago del Estero has a true State policy on sports and tourism.”
In the end, he highlighted the importance of these actions through works such as the Único Stadium, the Autodromo, the Automobile Museum, the Golf Club, the BMX tracks, the provincial Natatorium, among others. “We have invested in an important sports infrastructure, not only supporting sport, but promoting it as an alternative for our young people,” he said. “That is why we understand that sport is a State policy, because it is valuable when carrying out actions in social and sports matters,” he concluded.
