Lilian Dejean Death: Grenoble Suspect & Associates

by Archynetys News Desk

The investigation continues. Three relatives of a man accused of the ball murder of a municipal agent in Grenoble just a year ago were indicted for facilitating his flight, the prosecution said on Monday, September 8.

The death of Lilian Dejean, on September 8, 2024, had provoked strong emotion in the Isère capital and beyond: this 49-year-old cleaning agent had been shot in the chest by the man he tried to retain after the latter had caused an accident behind the wheel of a powerful rental car.

They “dispute” their involvement

Abdoul Diallo, 26, had fled on foot and spent more than two months on the run before being arrested in Portugal and handed over to France, where he was indicted and imprisoned for murder. Between April and August, the sister of his partner, 21, as well as two of his friends, 31 and 27 years old, were indicted for “concealment of criminal”, the Grenoble prosecutor Etienne Manteaux told AFP, confirming information from the daily Le Dauphiné Libéré.

All three were placed under judicial supervision and “dispute” their involvement, according to the magistrate.

The woman was indicted “especially because it was with her mobile phone that all telephone exchanges took place” with Diallo, according to Etienne Manteaux, “especially in Portugal”.

The two men indicted are suspected of having “exfiltrated from Grenoble” on the day of the murder, as evidenced by video recordings, according to the magistrate.

As for the suspect’s companion, who would be “the main person who has helped him”, the law grants him immunity that preserves her from any prosecution because she is the mother of the two children of Abdoul Diallo, said the prosecutor.

According to Etienne Manteaux, Abdoul Diallo, in the criminal record already loaded with 19 convictions, in particular for violence and drug trafficking, “disputes the guilty intention”, claiming to have pulled only to be able to escape. The assize trial could take place at the end of 2026, according to the prosecutor.

On Monday, some 250 people paid tribute to Lilian Dejean: a commemorative plaque was revealed in front of the town hall in the presence of his family and a fresco will be painted in his workplace.
