The Lebanese government welcomed the army’s plan to restrict arms in the hands of the state, after a session held today, Friday, to discuss the issue, from which Hezbollah ministers, Amal movement and independent Shiite minister withdrew withdrew.
The Lebanese Minister of Information Paul Morcos said that during today’s session, the army commander was heard for his plan to implement the decision to limit the weapons, stressing that the cabinet welcomed the plan that the army leadership set up to limit the weapons to its various stages.
Morcos explained that the army will carry out the implementation of a plan to extend the state sovereignty in accordance with the available and limited capabilities, and will submit a monthly report to the Council of Ministers regarding the plan to limit weapons.
He added that the Council of Ministers decided to maintain the content of the army’s plan and its deliberations secretly, and he said that the prime minister assured the Council of Ministers that there are no investments or an economy growing without security.
The Lebanese minister indicated that the government did not make a waiver regarding the plan to extend sovereignty and proceed with it without causing the explosion of the internal situation.
He stressed the importance of implementing the UN Resolution 1701 completely and not to pass the agreement to stop hostilities, and said that the government approved the goals of the American paper and the army prepared its plan, but Israel did not show any commitment.
Finance ministers with Yassin Jaber and the environment, Temara Al -Zain, withdrew from the “Amal Movement”, the health of Nasr El -Din and the work, Mohamed Haider from “Hezbollah”, and the Minister of Administrative Development Fadi Makki (independent) from the Lebanese government session.
Al -Jazeera correspondent said that the withdrawal of the five ministers came before the Lebanese army commander Rudolph Heikal started explaining the plan that the army will carry out on the ground to limit the weapon, including the Hezbollah weapon.
Lebanese Labor Minister Mohamed Haider said that their withdrawal from the government session comes in line with their position rejecting the American paper.
Today, the Lebanese government held an important government session to discuss a plan developed by the army to disarm Hezbollah, which collides with a severe opposition from the party that the authorities called for to retreat.
In early August, the government assigned, in an unprecedented decision, the army to prepare a plan to strip the party from its weapon by the end of this year, on the impact of American pressure, and it is afraid that Israel would implement threats of a new military campaign months after the end of a bloody confrontation between it and Hezbollah that continued for nearly a year.
Hezbollah rejected its rejection of the government’s decision. His parliamentary bloc called – in a statement – the authorities to “retract its non -charter and non -national decision on the issue of the resistance weapon and refrain from the plans to be passed in this regard.”
