YouTuber and broadcaster Lalal said that after plastic surgery, she impulsively removed her stitches on her own. He recently underwent fat relocation under the eyes and nose surgery.

Recently, a video titled ’39th Lalal Mocking Party 2′ was posted on the YouTube channel ‘Lee Yong-jin YouTube’. On this day, Lalal appeared as a guest in the video and honestly confessed his experience related to ADHD symptoms.

When Lee Yong-jin asked, “What is ADHD?” Lalal told a related anecdote, saying, “It’s a disease caused by a lack of dopamine.” He surprised people by saying, “I had my stitches pulled out today, and I wasn’t supposed to touch them. But I thought the swelling would go down, so I touched the threads and ended up pulling them out myself.”

Lalal continued, “I didn’t even know there was a thread, so I pulled and cut it, and it ended up inside my cheek. I asked the doctor if it was a meltable thread, and he said no. He was surprised and said it was the first time something like this had happened.” He added, “I tend to act right away when I feel like I want to lose weight, so it’s difficult for me to suppress my impulses.”

If stitches are removed alone after plastic surgery, the wound may open and become infected.

As a rule, stitches sutured after plastic surgery are removed by medical staff at a designated time unless they are soluble threads. It is not recommended for patients to pull out stitches on their own, as Lalal did, because it can cause various risks.

First, the most common risk is open wounds. Even if the surface of the skin appears to be glued on the outside, the actual tissue beneath the skin may not have fully recovered.

At this time, if the stitches are removed too early or pulled out in an inappropriate manner, the sutured area may open again. If the wound opens like this, there is a higher chance that it will need to be sutured again or that a larger scar will remain.

The risk of infection also increases. In hospitals, stitches are removed while checking the condition of the wound using a sterilized instrument. However, if you pull it at home with your hands or an unsterilized instrument, bacteria may enter the wound, causing swelling, pain, pus, and redness.

As in the case of Lalal, problems with threads remaining in the skin may also occur. Although the sutures appear to simply be over the skin, they are actually tied through the inside of the skin. Therefore, you must cut and remove only the appropriate part while checking the knot location and direction of the thread to prevent the thread from being pulled into the skin.

However, if an ordinary person pulls out the stitches without knowing exactly what is happening, the knot may enter the skin or a portion may remain, causing a foreign body reaction. In this case, inflammation or nodules may develop within the skin, and a situation may arise where it must be removed through another incision later.

If it is difficult to control impulses due to ADHD, behavioral therapy and medication should be considered.

Meanwhile, ADHD, which Lalal suffers from, is characterized by a weak regulation of neurotransmitters such as dopamine and norepinephrine in the brain. Therefore, actions may appear to immediately resolve thoughts or inconveniences that come to mind in the moment.

It is helpful to get into the habit of taking a few minutes when the urge arises. In fact, many ADHD behavioral treatments use the ’10 minute rule’ to postpone immediate action for a while.

If it is difficult to control impulses with behavioral therapy alone, drug treatment may be considered. It relieves impulsivity and concentration problems by administering drugs that regulate dopamine and norepinephrine signals. However, treatment should be decided based on individual circumstances through consultation with a specialist.
