The Czech forward clarifies reports of a massive payday in Switzerland and discusses his ongoing aspirations to return to the National Hockey League.
Dominik Kubalík has responded to claims that he will be the highest-paid import player in Swiss league history after signing with Zug. The reports, which originated from Swiss journalist Klaus Zaugg, suggested Kubalík would earn 24 million crowns annually.
Kubalík dismissed the rumors as untrue.”It is very funny, because there is nothing true at all. If it were like this, all foreigners would immediately disturb the contracts and wont to sign new contracts.” He added, “He has no idea what source a renowned Swiss journalist klaus Zaugg, who came up with information on Watson.ch, drew.”
The Czech player suggested the information was fabricated.”someone slapped something in Switzerland and it caught up here. I had a lot of news, phone calls and heard a lot of allusions. But people around me know how it is. If I dealt with money, I stayed in America or signed for five years in Ambri.”

Kubalík’s Move to Zug
kubalík is coming off a strong season with Ambri-Piotta, where he scored 27 goals and was the league’s top scorer. This performance followed five years in the NHL and reminded many of his 2018/19 season with Ambri, where he was the league’s most productive player, earning him a move to North America.
“The desire is great, the NHL is the most for every hockey player.”
Ambri-Piotta offered Kubalík a new five-year contract, but he chose to join Zug, where he will play alongside fellow Czech players Jan Kovář and Daniel Voženílek. “We were dealing primarily with Switzerland. I wanted to go to a club that was serious about attacking some success. I was hoping for the good season to be interested, which was confirmed.I chose by style, and where I know someone.”
NHL Return Still a Possibility
kubalík’s contract includes a clause allowing him to return to the NHL if an opportunity arises. “The clause is there, but it will not pay too long, I do not know when.”
He has played 357 games in the NHL for teams including Chicago, Detroit, and Ottawa, amassing 176 points (93 goals, 83 assists). While a return is appealing, he is cautious. “The desire is great, the NHL is the most for every hockey player. But I have some age again, I wouldn’t want to go to some two -way contract, fight for a place. I’m set now that if someone trusts me and would have an adequate chance for me.”
