A new feat was contemplated in the sixth competition on Sunday afternoon this January 25 at the Sha Tin racecourse after another triumph of the exceptional Ka Ying Rising (NZ) (Shamexpress (NZ)), this time in the 6 furlongs on grass of the Centenary Sprint Cup G1, where he equaled the fast Silent Witness (Aus) as the specimen campaigned in Hong Kong with the highest number of consecutive victories, achieving the seventeenth in this way.

As is customary, the outstanding five-year-old chestnut exhibited unbeatable condition, this time not only on the track, but also achieved recognition as the best presented specimen in the paddock saddling prior to the race.

The first part of the competition (initial 400 meters) was dominated by the colorful Irish sorrel Beauty Waves (Starspangledbanner (Aus)) in a time of :23.65, after the pupil of David Hayes and unanimous favorite gave up the lead from the beginning while waiting for the last curve, where with authority as he passed the half-mile pole, he put his nose in front, leaving :45.72 on the board’s stopwatch, dedicating himself to galloping to the batch of 6 opponents at will.

Leaving a feeling of total synchronization with his rider Zac Purton, and with a lead of one and ¼ lengths over Helios Express (Aus) (Toronado (Ire)), Ka Ying Rising (NZ) crossed the finish line stopping the clock in another magnificent time of 1:07.66. A close third place decided in the photo final was dominated by Fast Network (NZ) (Wrote (Ire)) who by a minimal difference relegated Racing Blizzard (NZ) (Per Incanto) to fourth place.

Now, the offspring of Shamexpress (NZ) in Missy Moo (NZ) by Per Incanto manages to double in the event and has 12 wins in Grade events in his record, meaning this is the seventh in the highest ranking (G1). With a track record of 20 performances, 18 victories and two second places, he has accumulated earnings of approximately $18,035,500, this after taking over most of the HK$13M prize that was disputed in this event.

With no limits in sight for Ka Ying Rising (NZ), expectations increase around the statements of her trainer and the owners of the talented Shisospicy (Mitole), recently awarded the Eclipse Award like the best mare sprinter of the United States, who propose a possible confrontation between these outstanding thoroughbreds of opposite sexes, even taking into account a match race where only both mentioned participate.
