JUNTA: €5M ESF Funding for Disability Employment Training

Liguria Invests €5 Million in Job Training for Young People with Disabilities

Empowering Youth Through Targeted Training

The Liguria region is making a significant investment in the future of its young people with disabilities. A newly allocated fund of €5 million, sourced from the European Social Fund (ESF) 2021-2027,will finance specialized training programs designed to facilitate their entry into the workforce. This initiative aims to provide crucial support and opportunities for a demographic often facing significant barriers to employment.

Programme Details: Bridging the Gap to Employment

The program will offer courses and practical work experience tailored for individuals aged 16 to 25 who possess certification under Law 104/90 and are registered with their local health authority (ASL). This targeted approach ensures that the support is directed to those who need it most. The initiative is expected to benefit approximately 470 young people identified by the ASL.

This initiative comes at a crucial time. According to recent Eurostat data, the employment rate for people with disabilities across the EU remains significantly lower than that of people without disabilities. Investing in targeted training programs like this one in Liguria is a vital step towards closing this gap and fostering a more inclusive workforce.

A Collaborative Approach to Inclusivity

Regional authorities emphasize the inclusive nature of this measure, highlighting its commitment to leaving no one behind. A collaborative effort between Alfa (the regional agency for employment, training and accreditation), Alisa (the regional health agency), and local health companies has resulted in revised regulations. these changes aim to broaden the reach of the program and ensure that a wider range of eligible individuals can access tailored activities designed to enhance their independence and improve their job prospects.

A truly inclusive measure that allows us not to leave anyone behind… to improve their autonomies and the possibilities job placement.
