The Halle des Aspres hosted two major judo events organized by the departmental committee. Throughout the weekend, hundreds of young judokas from all over the P.-O. met on the tatami mats for competitions and activities dedicated to different age categories.
Saturday morning was dedicated to the juniors’ departmental final, an important stage of the sports season. In the afternoon, there is an activity for the chicks, as well as the second junior division. The judokas who distinguished themselves during these events will have the opportunity to represent the department during a regional competition scheduled for the end of the month.
On Sunday, the youngest took over. An activity was organized in the morning for the mini-chicks (5-6 years old), while the afternoon was reserved for judo development (4-5 years old). After a collective warm-up bringing together nearly 300 children, the participants took part in educational randori, learning fights, organized by morphological groups and refereed by the department’s judo teachers.
The objective of these meetings is above all educational and friendly, allowing children to discover the competition in a friendly environment. “We are happy to be able, over a weekend, to bring together all the young judokas. They all leave with a medal. Thanks to the Thuir judo club and the town hall for their help in the organization,” underlined Nicolas Cloarec, president of the departmental judo committee.
The young athletes were also surprised to meet Kodomo, the mascot of the French Judo Federation.
