Jonathan Sweeps to Final | Defeats Loh Kean Yew

Jonatan Christie advanced to the final of the India Open 2026 after defeating Loh Kean Yew in the semifinals with a score of 21-18, 22-20 in 46 minutes.

Taking place at the Indira Gandhi Sports Complex, Saturday (17/1), Jojo faced fierce resistance from the Singaporean representative. He was far behind in the first game before coming back to win.

Loh led 11-5 at the interval, then continued to maintain the distance until 15-9 after the break. However, Jojo managed to equalize the score to 15-15, then went ahead 18-16.

Even though Loh had equalized the score at 18-18, Jojo won three points in a row to win 21-18 in the first game. In the second game, the match was no less fierce.

Jojo, who was ahead 5-3, was overtaken by Loh to 8-5 and then closed the interval with 11-9. After the break, it was Jojo’s turn to overtake Loh to 13-11 although it was soon equalized to 13-13.

Jojo’s four points in a row made him pull away again with a 17-13 lead, but Loh again equalized the score at 18-18, and the score continued until 20-20. In a deuce situation, Jojo managed to emerge as the winner.

One clever shot that tricked Loh managed to change the score to 21-20. Then Jojo’s consecutive smashes finally couldn’t be stopped by Loh, who had to suffer a 20-22 defeat in the second game.

In the final on Sunday (18/1), Jojo will face the winner Victor Lai (Canada) vs Lin Chun-yi (Taiwan).
