Jonas Hasler will not participate in the Olympic Big Air final on Saturday in Livigno. The Thurgau native did not pass the qualifying stage on Thursday evening.
The young 19-year-old rider, who is experiencing his first Olympic Games in Italy, placed 24th in qualifying. With a total of 139.25 points, he remained more than 20 points from the 12th and last qualifying place for the final. The best score was obtained by the Japanese Hiroto Ogiwara, double gold medalist in the discipline at the X Games.
Jonas Hasler will have two more chances to qualify for an Olympic final in slopestyle and halfpipe. He had also declared before the competition that he saw the Big Air event as a “warm-up” before tackling his favorite disciplines.
