An analyst who questioned the validity of President Joko Widodo‘s diploma faced intense questioning from Indonesian authorities.

The debate surrounding President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s academic credentials continues as an analyst, Rismon hasiholan Sianipar, was recently subjected to extensive questioning by Indonesian police.

Rismon Hasiholan Sianipar faced 97 questions from investigators of the Kamneg Subdit Ditreskrimum Metro Jaya Regional Police concerning a report filed by the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Jokowi, regarding accusations of a fraudulent diploma.

“(Number of questions) 97 total, the question is a lot,” Rismon stated following his examination at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police headquarters on Monday, May 26th.

Rismon indicated that many of the questions pertained to content he had posted on his X (formerly Twitter) account, @sianiparrrismon, where he discussed the Jokowi diploma.

The line of questioning also covered his interactions with Roy Suryo and videos uploaded to his YouTube channel,both of which delved into the controversy surrounding Jokowi’s academic qualifications.

“Where I study, analyze the endorsement and thesis sheet Pak Joko Widodo, related to the algorithm that I use, methods, so I explain a little,” he elaborated.

According to Rismon, investigators also inquired about his credentials for scrutinizing Jokowi’s diploma. He asserted that, as a researcher, he possessed the autonomy to conduct such an analysis.

The legal action was initiated after Jokowi filed a complaint with the Jakarta Metropolitan Police concerning alleged defamation related to the accusations of a fake diploma.

Ade Ary told reporters on Thursday, May 15th, “The chronology of the case reported was on March 26, 2025 around Karet Kuningan, South Jakarta, the reporter as the victim began to know the video through social media containing statements of slander and defamation with a fake diploma statement from a university owned by a reporter or victim.”

President Jokowi reportedly instructed his aides and legal representatives to gather evidence from various social media platforms.

Ade Ary added, “And reminds those who make statements and content containing the defamation and pollution of the reputation as stated among them by the first RHS of the third RSN of the fourth TT and the fifth.”

Jokowi officially lodged a report with the Jakarta Metropolitan Police on April 30th,asserting that he felt aggrieved by the allegations.

The report cites alleged violations of Article 310 and Article 311 of the Criminal Code, as well as Article 305 jo 51 paragraph 1 of the ITE Law.

Authorities have collected evidence submitted by Jokowi and his legal team, including a flash drive containing links to 24 YouTube videos, social media content from X, and a photocopy of the diploma in question.
