Jakarta – Usually, the first day on set for actors is a time to get to know each other or do light scenes. However, this did not apply to Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson when they started production on their latest film, Die My Love.
In the Actress Roundtable discussion session with The Hollywood Reporter (5/1/2026), Jennifer Lawrence revealed the secrets behind the scenes of this dark comedy-drama film.
He admitted that director Lynne Ramsay gave them quite an extreme challenge from day one: they had to do intimate scenes without clothes. Lawrence said this scene was not just an ordinary romantic scene.
“Our first day on set was a nude scene, where we attacked each other like tigers,” he recalls.
To prepare for this scene which relies heavily on physical and emotional intensity, the director asked the two of them to take an interpretive dance class first.
The goal was to make their movements in front of the camera feel more organic and wild, in keeping with the film’s vision of exploring a wild and passionate relationship.
Even though she appeared naked in front of people she had just met, this Oscar-winning actress actually felt grateful that this scene was placed at the beginning of the shooting schedule. According to him, doing the most “awkward” thing on the first day actually takes the burden off your mind for the rest of the production period.
“It felt quite good that it happened on the first day, because after that we didn’t have to think about it anymore (feel burdened),” said Lawrence.
In line with Lawrence, Robert Pattinson also joked in another interview about the experience being embarrassing, but effective.
For him, two actors have seen each other in their most vulnerable state, namely naked on the first day, so there are no more secrets or awkwardness left for the rest of the shoot.
The film Die My Love itself is an adaptation of the novel by Ariana Hurwicz. This film tells the story of Grace (Lawrence), a woman in rural Montana who struggles with postpartum depression and emotional isolation in her marriage to Jackson (Pattinson).
With Lynne Ramsay’s directorial approach, which is known for being bold, this film promises very brave acting performances from its two big stars.
