A song for Remembrance: GoldmanS Gift to the Nation
Jean-Jacques Goldman, the celebrated French singer-songwriter who stepped away from the spotlight in 2016, has returned with a poignant new song, We Will Be There
. This powerful tribute is dedicated to veterans, victims of war and terrorism, and the pupils of the nation, offering a message of resilience and remembrance.
Unveiling at a Benefit Concert
The song premiered on thursday, April 10th, at the Pleyel hall in Paris during One Night Sentinel, a charitable concert organized by the Bleuet de France. This organization provides support to veterans, war victims, those affected by terrorism, and the children of those who serve.
The Bleuet de France, similar to organizations like the Wounded Warrior Project in the United States, plays a vital role in providing assistance and resources to those who have sacrificed for their country. In 2024, veteran support organizations collectively raised over $500 million, highlighting the public’s commitment to honoring and assisting those who have served.
We Will Be There.
Goldman’s Message of Support
A message from Jean-Jacques Goldman was broadcast during the One Night Sentinel event:
Happy and proud to be able to help the Bleuet de France, who accompanies those who protect us and their families. Good concert to all. Sincerely. JJG.

Eloïz and Yvard: The Voices of Resilience
Goldman himself selected two emerging artists, Eloïz and Yvard, to perform We Will Be There
. The Bleuet de France describes the song as a tribute vibrating with resilience and courage.
Both artists bring unique perspectives to the song, having experienced service and sacrifice firsthand.
The Making of a Tribute: A Collaborative Effort
Eloïz shared insights into the recording process with BFMTV, noting Goldman’s meticulous approach and openness to collaboration: He knows what he wants. He likes when everything is square and as he imagined. On the other hand, he really leaves free to give our opinion, our feedback.
From Military Service to Musical Expression
General Loïs Mizon, the military governor of Paris, revealed that the song originated from a happy meeting
and Goldman’s own military service in the Air Force. Inspired by his experiences, Goldman wanted to offer a song to the injured and bereaved families of the armed forces.
The Artists: From Uniform to Center Stage
Eloïz, a former soldier who gained recognition on France Has Incredible Talent, has become a celebrated artist with her song Hey Bro
. Yvard, a former mobile gendarme specializing in anti-terrorism, transitioned to a career as a rock singer after being injured in the line of duty. Their backgrounds lend authenticity and emotional depth to their performance of Goldman’s tribute.
A Star-Studded Evening for a Worthy cause
The One Night Sentinel concert also featured performances by renowned musicians, including Jacky Mascarel (Jean-Jacques Goldman’s pianist), David Hallyday, Anggun, Chimène Badi, Esmée, Grégoire, Petit K, and Stéphane. Last year’s event included a surprise appearance by Florent Pagny, who performed Savoir Aimer
(Know How to Love).
