Japan’s Controversial Life Lesson: Review & Criticism

Japan’s most controversial life lesson online review: Too cruel!

In Japan, many schools offer “life courses” in the hope that children can understand the value of life from an early age.

Izumo Agriculture and Forestry High School in Shimane Prefecture, Japan, has been giving students such a life education class since 2017.

The school asked the students to hatch the chicks themselves, raise the chicks, participate in all the chick’s life processes, and finally kill and eat it with their own hands to complete the course.

The content of such a course has sparked heated discussions on the Internet, with many netizens criticizing it as too cruel and too distorted. They must review whether the existence of this course is necessary.

The students felt the joy of life and had to record every detail of taking care of the chicks. It was inevitable that they developed feelings in the process.

When the chicks grow up, the teacher will lead the students to slaughter them. Students have to hold down their own chickens with their own hands, cut the chicken’s neck and bleed it.

During the process, many children burst into tears, crying and apologizing to the chicken in their hands. In the end, the teacher had to cook the chicken with the children and then eat the chicken together. This life education course was truly over.

Do you think such a course can really help students understand the importance of life? Or is it too much?
