WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) – Wichita County District Attorney John Gillespie has confirmed that James Staley III, who was found guilty of capital murder in the death of Jason Wilder McDaniel in March 2023, had his Petition for Discretionary Review (PDR) approved this morning.
The PDR has been pending since May 2025.
Little details are available for what the following steps will be in Staley’s appeal.
