The internet video streaming service “DAZN” has released “We’re looking into the issue of being exposed too much of a soccer player’s DM!”, currently MC by Moriyama Shintaro of comedian Mitorizu. On May 21st, the program was promoted on its official X account, but it has been criticized by alumni of the Japanese national team.

The program reveals the reality of gravure idols and DMs based on the theme of “There shouldn’t be any problem with DMs themselves, but why is the only DMs received from J-League players being talked about?” Former J-League player Yasuda Rita talks about the characteristics of players who send DMs.

However, the programme has been criticized online for being vulgar. The program’s introduction posts, which featured gravure idol Ogata Saki, include “Inquiries with Gravure Idols,” “Catching up the taboos about the J-League DM issue,” and “Some gravure idols who have DMed more than 20 times…”, have received numerous negative messages, and there have been a series of calls for improvements to DAZN’s services, including lowering monthly fees.

Furthermore, Kondo Naoya, an alumnus of Kashiwa Reysol, Tokyo Verdy and Jeff United Chiba, and has a history of playing for the Japanese national team, wrote this after quoting the post (deleted as of 3pm).

“The DM Issue from J-League Girls featured on a DAZN program. Is that what soccer fans really want? Is there any meaning in the numbers that can be obtained by exposing players who take innocent actions on social media in a position where professional behavior and a sense of responsibility are required? If you have respect for J-League or players, I hope they will deliver content that has a lot of content, such as training young players, evolution of tactics, and behind-the-scenes efforts, rather than making topics that will degrade your quality. No one will make you happy if someone who loves soccer doesn’t benefit.”

DAZN has been criticized for its monthly fee hike, commercials during games, and restrictions on simultaneous viewing. In response to this issue, the winds from contractors, soccer fans, and others are likely to be stronger.
