According to eyewitnesses, spontaneous protests broke out at the Grand Bazaar in the capital Tehran. According to media reports, there were clashes between demonstrators and security forces. They used tear gas and dispersed the participants in the action. The market was closed. Meanwhile, the national currency, the rial, whose fall in value triggered the protests, reached a record low.

According to human rights activists, at least 35 people have been killed in the demonstrations, which have been going on for more than a week. The Human Rights Activists News Agency said that two of the regime’s emergency services were among them. The group relies on a network of informants within Iran for its reports. There were also hundreds of injuries and 1,200 arrests.
