Iran’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) warned that maintaining security was a “red line” and the military vowed to protect public property.
The statement came after United States President Donald Trump issued a new warning to Iran’s leaders on Friday (9/1) amid massive protests taking place in Iran’s major cities. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Saturday (10/1) also stated: “The United States stands with the brave people of Iran.”
Demonstrations marred by riots continued all night. Iranian state media reported a city government building was set on fire in Karaj, west of Tehran, Iran’s capital, and blamed it on “rioters.” State television also broadcast footage of funerals for members of the security forces, who it said were killed in protests in the cities of Shiraz, Qom and Hamedan.

Protests have spread across much of Iran over the past two weeks, starting in response to soaring inflation. The action then quickly turned political, with protesters demanding an end to clerical rule. Iranian authorities accused the US and Israel of inciting “unrest.” Human rights groups have documented dozens of demonstrator deaths.
Reported Al Arabiya And ReutersSaturday (10/1/2026), a witness in western Iran contacted by telephone said that the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) were deployed and opened fire in the area where they spoke. He declined to be named for their safety.
In a statement broadcast by state television, the IRGC accused the terrorists of targeting military and law enforcement bases over the past two nights, killing several civilians and security personnel.
Preserving the achievements of the 1979 Islamic Revolution and maintaining security are “red lines,” the IRGC stressed, adding that the continuation of the situation was unacceptable.
Meanwhile the military, which operates separately from the IRGC, but is also led by Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, announced it would “protect and safeguard national interests, the country’s strategic infrastructure and public property.”
