Tasnim News Agency reported that the accident resulted in the deaths of the pilot, his co-pilot, and two other people on the ground.
The agency explained: “A helicopter belonging to the Iranian army’s aviation unit crashed on Tuesday morning in the fruit and vegetable market in the city of Darcheh in Khomeinishahr district of Isfahan province, due to a technical malfunction.”
She said that the accident resulted in the deaths of the pilot, his co-pilot, and two market vendors.
Iran, which is subject to several international sanctions, has recorded several air accidents in recent years, and officials complain of the difficulty of obtaining the spare parts needed to maintain its aging air fleet.
On Thursday, an Iranian fighter plane crashed, killing one of the two pilots on board, during night training in Hamedan Province, west of the country, according to the official Iranian Broadcasting Corporation.
