Iran Launches Missile Attack on Israel Following Israeli Strikes

Tensions escalate as Iran retaliates for Israeli attacks on its nuclear facilities, firing dozens of missiles towards Israel. Sirens blare in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv as impacts are reported.

Late on June 13th, Iran launched dozens of missiles against Israel in response to the unprecedented attack of that country against Iranian nuclear and military facilities. The strikes resulted in the death of high-ranking army officials and members of the Revolutionary Guard.

The Israeli army acknowledged the incoming missiles, stating that Iran possesses the capability to inflict “important” damage. They alerted the population and urged them to seek shelter.

After the attack, the military forces admitted that “a limited number of impacts on buildings”, occurred, but claimed that their air defense systems intercepted the majority of the missiles, which numbered less than one hundred.

The missile strikes triggered emergency alarms across Israel. In Jerusalem, such as, sirens sounded and shortly after explosions were heard.

Reports from Tel Aviv and Israeli media indicated that at least one projectile struck a building in the city, resulting in a large plume of smoke.

Firefighters in northern israel reported battling a grassland fire ignited by a missile strike. Initial reports from Jerusalem indicated a missile landed in an open area.

“In the southern region, a missile fell into an open area in two places and the teams were heading to the place,” firefighters added.

At least seven people were injured in the center of the country, said Eli Bin, spokesman for Magen David Adom rescuers, the Israeli equivalent of the red Cross, to the 12 -television of Israeli.

The army already lifted the order to remain in the shelters, but urged the population to remain vigilant and stay close to protected spaces.

Iran’s attacks respond to the bombings released by Israel this morning on their territory, which have prolonged several waves throughout the day to impact military and nuclear facilities in the Islamic Republic.

Israel said Iran was working on a secret plan to develop an atomic weapon, while the UN maintains that it has no evidence of it, although it said that it cannot guarantee that the Iranian nuclear program is or has been exclusively peaceful.

To date, Israeli attacks have killed six high positions of the Iranian revolutionary guard, six nuclear scientists and at least 70 civilians in Iran.
