Apple is reportedly gearing up to launch its first foldable iPhone next year, amidst a flurry of rumors surrounding the highly anticipated device, even before the unveiling of the IPHONE 17 series.

Recent leaks suggested that Apple might ditch the FACE ID technology in the foldable iPhone to achieve a slimmer design, perhaps relying on an in-display fingerprint sensor, a feature common in Android phones. This would have marked the first iPhone to adopt this technology.

However, technical analyst Ming Che Ko refuted these expectations via the X platform, asserting that Apple is “unlikely to risk using an ultrasound scanner” in its foldable phone.

He suggested that the company will instead opt for a side-mounted fingerprint sensor integrated into the power button, a technology previously implemented in several iPad models.

Ko also indicated that the Chinese company Luxshare ICT,a primary supplier for Apple,will be responsible for providing the new sensor.

Apple remains the last major smartphone manufacturer yet to release a foldable phone, a situation poised to change with the introduction of the iPhone Fold, although the company has not officially disclosed any details about the device.

According to leaks, the foldable phone is expected to feature a 7.8-inch internal screen and a 5.5-inch external screen, with a “book” style design similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 series. The phone is also rumored to include four cameras, including a dual-camera system on the rear and two front-facing cameras on both the internal and external displays.
