In advance of the celebration of the International Day of Internet, the Argentine Internet Chamber –CABASE- organizes the XII edition of Internet Daywhich will take place on Wednesday, May 6 and Thursday, May 7 from 9 a.m. at the Buenos Aires CEC Convention Center (Figueroa Alcorta and Pueyrredón, CABA).

Under the slogan «(AI) Smart Argentina + (AI) Argentine Infrastructure»the event proposes to focus on a central idea: there is no intelligent Argentina without a solid, sovereign and sustainable infrastructure. The agenda thus invites us to think about the development of AI from concrete bases, as a starting point for economic growth, competitiveness and the generation of value in the country.

The event is once again consolidated as an important meeting for the industry and will bring together all the actors of the internet ecosystem in the country and the region to address the main sectoral challenges. With a vast agenda of content and activities that include keynote speakers, panels of specialists, workshops, a news fair and demos and stands of products and services, the event brings together the most prominent professionals and experts in the region in Buenos Aires.

The objective of the meeting is to generate a dialogue between authorities, specialists from the world of technology, companies, cooperatives and SMEs in the industry, as well as facilitate the meeting between companies and their value chain, promoting the development of new business models based on the synergies between the different verticals of the industry and the exchange of experiences and best practices.

The meeting, aimed at industry leaders, operators, ISPs, carriers, telecommunications cooperatives, authorities, regulators, the academic community and the press, promises to be a key platform to debate the future of the industry, advances in infrastructure and the trends that will mark the course of connectivity in Argentina and the region.

“In a context of technological acceleration at a global level, the development of artificial intelligence opens a unique opportunity for Argentina, but its potential can only be deployed on a robust, federal and sustainable digital infrastructure. Investing in the development of digital infrastructure and connectivity not only improves the quality of life of people, but also becomes a strategic enabler for economic growth, competitiveness and the country’s insertion into the knowledge economy.he stated Ariel Graizer, President of the Argentine Internet Chamber –CABASE–.

  • Is it possible to think of a federal edge? How to plan a federal and productive infrastructure? What does Argentina need to be attractive for large investments in data centers?
  • Is universalization a utopia or a possible reality? How to reach neglected areas? What models are the most convenient for Argentina?
  • Energy infrastructure for AI: from nuclear energy to renewables and biofuels. How to ensure that Argentina’s energy matrix allows for supporting the AI infrastructure?
  • Evolving spectrum, with smart allocation and secondary market development, and new satellite players with increased competition from constellations. What opportunities may arise for ISPs to reach underserved areas?
  • Piracy does not stop and disparate views do not help. How to move from tensions to finding common ground to combat the illegal business of a few that harms the entire industry. The role of justice, the debate on blocking and the threats behind non-securitized home applications and devices.
  • Streaming and video continue to be on the podium of home digital consumption, putting pressure on bandwidth and the home network. Is there room to monetize mesh in the client’s home? What new businesses enable WiFi6 and WiFi7?
  • Country models in conflict: from promotion to fiscal voracity. When ignorance of the competitive advantages that digital infrastructure brings to districts gives rise to the desire to collect taxes, imposing a tax burden on the ICT sector that only widens the digital divide.
  • Infrastructure financing: recent lessons, new mechanisms with and without subsidies, and the options offered by a more open capital market.
  • Consolidation of operations Is there a place for small and medium-sized operators in the new telecommunications scenario in Argentina?
