Cort, with whom the Public Ministry agreed to a sentence agreement for 48 months in prison and the return of 1.6 million dollars, explained during the interrogation that he established at least three companies that had multiple bank accounts.
According to his testimony, these companies were created on the instructions of the then Minister of Public Works, José Federico Suárez, who instructed him to appear as the final beneficiary of the accounts, through which funds were received that were later transferred to third parties.
Cort stated that he maintained direct communication with Suárez until July 2012. Subsequently, he indicated that one of the assessors, whose office was located in the district of Río Abajo, assumed control of the instructions and became his direct link for the execution of financial operations.
