ice Nine Kills Responds to AI Image Accusations with Sarcasm

The metalcore band faces backlash over a promotional image suspected to be AI-generated, prompting a humorous response.

Horror-themed metalcore band Ice Nine Kills has responded to allegations that they utilized generative AI for a promotional image, addressing the controversy with a touch of humor. The band faced criticism after fans speculated that a picture promoting a Memorial Day merchandise sale was created using artificial intelligence. The image, shared on social media, featured Freddy krueger and Jason Voorhees grilling meat on a barbecue.

Critics pointed to several alleged inconsistencies in the image as evidence of AI generation. These included oddly shaped knives and an unidentifiable object in Freddy Krueger’s hand.

In response to the backlash, Ice Nine Kills issued a sarcastic statement on social media platform X/Twitter: “We are vigorously investigating the disturbing claims that a recent promotional image was sloppily birthed by AI. We solemnly pledge to get to the bottom of this horrific headline-making crime against Redditors. For now, enjoy our new promo photo, taken just moments ago.”

the accompanying photo appeared to be another AI-generated image, depicting the band members in suits and sunglasses with exaggeratedly large muscles.
