The Italian Hotel Stella Montis is experiencing a massive influx of reviews from Arc Raiders players. Why does the hotel deserve this review bombing? This hotel has the same name as the location in the game.
Arc Raiders is a popular shooter with PvPvE (Player vs Player vs Environment) combat elements developed by Embark Studios. Stella Montis, in turn, is an “isolated research facility located among snow-covered peaks”, which is also the last stronghold of humanity’s survival.
In the real world, Hotel Stella Montis is a four-star hotel in northern Italy. It’s certainly not a secret research facility, but like Stella Montis from Arc Raiders, it’s set in a snow-covered mountain range. That’s where the similarities end, but that hasn’t stopped players from posting reviews suggesting that the hotel and location in Arc Raiders are the same.
The joke turned into a trend
“I got the Tempest plan from the cafeteria, found some volcanoes and il toro in the Medical and played Bastion Ball in the loading area (watch out for the rats though). 10/10, recommend,” wrote one user who left a 5-star review and marked the hotel as “high-tech” and “romantic.” Of course, not all reviews were positive.
“Terrible experience,” wrote another player, who gave the hotel only 3 out of 5 stars. “I recommend traveling alone to this hotel. Any group larger than 2 people has a very high chance of encountering rats in the lobby. The hotel has a medical section where dead bodies can often be found. Also, while here, please be courteous to other guests,” added another.
Still, the influx of reviews from Arc Raiders players has been positive for the hotel. When Arc Raiders-related reviews first appeared on the /r/ArcRaiders subreddit, the hotel had a 4.4-star rating. As more reviews came in, the rating increased. However, the multitude of references to Stella Montis from the game may confuse some potential guests. It is very likely that they will take every mention of “rats” literally.
