The Carinthian Red Cross will again be offering training for voluntary hospice support from February. Since 2009, the course has been preparing people to accompany seriously ill and dying people and their relatives in the last phase of life. The registration deadline is January 15, 2026.
Accompaniment in the last section
The basis of hospice work is the Red Cross’s humanitarian motto “For the love of people”. “This love for people should be particularly noticeable in the last phase of life,” emphasizes Red Cross President Martin Pirz. “Hospice support means supporting seriously ill and dying people sensitively, caringly and humanely – with all their questions, fears and longings.” The course begins with a mandatory selection day on February 7, 2026. The training includes 108 teaching units and a 40-hour internship in palliative care or hospice facilities. The technical, communicative, ethical and legal basics of hospice and palliative work are taught.
Registration is still possible in the new year
