Alexander Horváth, running as an independent, won Budapest VIII with 52.54 percent of the votes. district’s by-election – it was revealed from the website valasztas.hu.
By-elections had to be held in the district because last year Alexander Horváth from DK, who won the district by a margin of only 36 votes, resigned from his mandate after a video emerged showing a man in his company portioning out strips of white powder and then preparing to suck one of them.
Alexander Horváth ran again for the mandate, but at the same time he was also accused of drug use during the campaign, and the police searched his house. After the incident, mayor András Pikó, mayor Gergely Karácsony and representative András Jámbor stood up for him, in their view that the police were used by the authorities for political purposes. Horváth also took a drug test, the results of which he published himself.
