Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa reminded the ranks of the Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) to improve their work methods when collecting taxes. He prohibits actions that seem similar to acts of thuggery.

Purbaya said the government wants tax collection to be carried out more professionally. He will also take advantage of Coretax which is continuously being improved by the Ministry of Finance.

“That doesn’t mean being like thugs banging on people’s houses at 5 in the morning, that’s not the case. We will make billing more professional, and Cortex should be better so tax collection should be even better,” said Purbaya at the Ministry of Finance Head Office, Friday (24/10/2025).

The State Treasurer said that the DJP must look at potential tax revenues that have not yet been exploited. Leaks that have occurred so far must also be patched immediately.

“The micromanagement has seen the potential that has not yet been exploited and optimized. Moreover, if there are potential leaks here and there, that will be pursued,” explained Purbaya.

When met separately, Purbaya highlighted the work of tax officials which was considered inappropriate. The reason is that tax officials at the Tigaraksa KPP reportedly visited the taxpayer’s house and collected the bill at 5.41 am.

Purbaya asked that the tax officials not only be given training but also given sanctions. For information, this case was previously reported as suspected thuggery which was reported via the WA channel ‘Report Pak Purbaya’ with number 082240406600.

“Try giving him a little sanction, don’t just train him. Just give him a little punishment. He’s chasing Rp. 300 thousand at 5 in the morning. It’s a bit strange. He’s stressed, he’s drunk at night. He knocks at people’s houses, we pay! Give him a little sanction,” said Purbaya at the Ministry of Finance Head Office, Central Jakarta, Friday (24/10/2025).

Purbaya received a report that the case involving the KPP Tigaraksa Account Representative (AR) was true, but not a case of thuggery. The person concerned is said to only carry out the task of collecting taxes.

After being asked for clarification, the reason the tax officer took this action was because the workload was very high. But the person concerned has now been trained. Even so, Purbaya admitted that he did not fully believe this reason.
