BANGGAI KECE — The Banggai Regency AIDS Control Commission has again reminded the potential for increased risk of HIV/AIDS transmission amidst high community mobility during the Christmas and New Year (Nataru) homecoming flow.
This issue will be discussed specifically in the Radio Talk program on Radio Insania on Tuesday, December 23 2025.
Banggai Regency KPA Secretary, Hj. Rampia Laamiri, will be present as a resource person with material entitled HIV/AIDS Transmission in the Midst of Christmas and New Year Homecoming Flows.
In his presentation, Rampia emphasized that the annual homecoming flow not only has an impact on the transportation and economic sectors, but also poses a serious challenge to public health.
The high level of population movement between regions, changes in behavior during the holiday period, and limited health services during the holiday period have the potential to expand HIV transmission networks if not anticipated appropriately.
He emphasized the important role of KPA together with related regional apparatus organizations (OPD) in strengthening prevention efforts through education, promoting safe behavior, as well as strengthening HIV testing and counseling services.
Teenagers, transportation workers, the tourism sector and people in transit areas are said to be vulnerable groups that need special attention.
According to him, the Nataru momentum must be used as a strategic step to improve cross-sector coordination, involve community and religious leaders, and encourage active community participation in creating a healthy and stigma-free environment.
“With the cooperation of all parties, the risk of HIV/AIDS transmission during the Christmas and New Year homecoming flow can be reduced, so that regional health development remains sustainable,” he concluded.
