The Israeli army indicated this Wednesday that the fourth body delivered on Tuesday night by the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas does not correspond to that of any of the Gaza hostages.

“Once the national forensic institute’s examinations have been completed,” the conclusion is that “the fourth body delivered by Hamas to Israel does not correspond to any of the hostages,” the army said in a statement.

“Hamas must make all necessary efforts to return the deceased hostages,” the Israeli army warned.

Under the exchange agreement concluded between Israel and Hamas as part of the US-sponsored truce, the Islamist movement committed to handing over all hostages still in the Gaza Strip.

Hamas on Monday released the last twenty hostages still alive after their kidnapping on October 7, 2023 and also returned eight of the expected 28 bodies.

The families of the hostages previously indicated that three of the four bodies handed over Tuesday night had been identified. These are Uriel Baruj, Eitan Levy and Tamir Nimrodi.

Prior to these four deaths, Hamas had delivered the first four bodies on Monday.
