Gregor Johann Mendel: The father of genetics 2024-04-26 07:20:16

In the world of science, there are figures whose impact transcends generations, and Gregor Johann Mendel is undoubtedly one of those personalities. Known as the father of genetics, Mendel revolutionized our understanding of biological inheritance and laid the foundation for a scientific discipline that would forever change the way we understand life itself.

The firsts years

Gregor Mendel was born on July 20, 1822 in Heinzendorf, in the Moravian region, which is now part of the Czech Republic. Raised in a humble family, Mendel showed from an early age an inclination towards nature and science, which led him to enter the Augustinian monastery of St. Thomas in Brno at the age of 21.

The Pea Experiment

It was at the monastery that Mendel carried out his famous experiments with peas, which would lead him to discover the fundamental principles of genetic inheritance. For eight years, Mendel meticulously made crosses between different varieties of peas, carefully observing and recording the results of each cross.

Revolutionary Discoveries

Mendel’s experiments led him to formulate two fundamental laws of heredity:

1. The Law of Segregation: Mendel observed that heritable traits are determined by discrete units of information,

7 Days to Die announces the end of its Early Access and that the game will have to be purchased again on console

The Fun Pimps have announced the end of Early Access for 7 Days to Die… with controversy included.

The open-world zombie game was originally published in 2013. Now, after eleven years, it will end its early access phase and version 1.0 will be released. The surprise, however, is that they have said that users who bought Early Access on consoles (which was not exactly cheap, costing €34.99) will have to buy the game again if they want the final version.

The developers explain that “due to the significant technical differences between the old and current console hardware we will not update the old version.” This means, in other words, going through the checkout again.

The Fun Pimps says it is “working with Sony and Microsoft to offer a discount to owners of the old digital version when purchasing the new console edition” and that the current version will be removed from stores shortly.

On PC the situation is very different, where users who purchased Early Access will be able to upgrade to version 1.0 at no additional cost. What they will have to do is start their game again, since the current saves “will not be compatible with the many new changes.”

Version 1.0 of 7 Days to Die will be released in June on PC,

WhatsApp to Introduce New Feature to Manage Reaction Notifications for Status Updates

Whatsapp [사진: 셔터스톡]

[디지털투데이 AI리포터] Mobile media outlet Phone Arena reported on the 25th (local time) that WhatsApp is planning to introduce a new feature to manage reaction notifications for users’ status updates.

This feature, which lets users choose whether they want to be notified when someone reacts to their status updates, has been added to the latest beta version of WhatsApp for Android.

The update follows a growing trend of messaging apps giving users more control over their notification settings. It is said that most users tend to find the constant notifications distracting and burdensome.

WhatsApp statuses are temporary updates that disappear after 24 hours, similar to Instagram stories. Users can share photos, videos, texts, voice notes and more, and can even react to other users’ statuses with emoticons.

This feature is still under development, so it may not yet be available to all WhatsApp users. However, it is likely that it will be released more widely in a future update.

Stellar Blade: Exploring the Half-Second Input Delay and its Impact on Gameplay

Stellar Blade: A Deliberate Design Choice or a Technical Imperfection?

Stellar Blade, the highly anticipated game set to revolutionize the gaming industry, has finally been released today. Gamers around the world are eager to dive into this epic adventure and experience firsthand what all the hype is about. However, there is one aspect of Stellar Blade that has sparked intense debate among players: the half-second input delay when parrying or dodging.

In a recent interview with Japanese outlet 4Gamer, Kim Hyung-tae, the director of Shift Up and mastermind behind Stellar Blade, shed light on this peculiar design choice. According to Kim, this deliberate lag between button press and on-screen skill activation was implemented to ensure smooth animation throughout gameplay:

“In Stellar Blade, there is about a 0.5-second lag between the moment you press the button and the moment the skill is visible on-screen. It’s a time lag that can’t be reduced any further. We made it so that the character’s movement does not get triggered immediately upon button press, as we felt this would not fit the game’s style of animation. Thus, we made it so that the skill itself is activated at your command but follows with an animated movement.”

This design choice raises interesting questions about player immersion and game mechanics.

In the future, if your Windows 11 does not meet the AI requirements, a watermark may appear.

Windows 11 to Introduce New Watermark Reminder for AI Requirements

Many Windows 11 users are already familiar with the watermark that appears in the lower right corner when the operating system is not activated. However, a new annoyance may be on the horizon for those whose PC hardware does not meet the AI requirements of Windows 11 24H2.

A recent discovery by a netizen named Albacore revealed that in the Windows 11 Insider Build 26200 version, a watermark will be displayed if the PC does not meet the AI Explorer hardware requirements. This new reminder is said to appear in overlays, but the exact details of its display frequency are still unclear.

Albacore also shared that the AI Explorer check can be bypassed by disabling ID 48486440, which will only disable the AIX check and not the API. This discovery has raised concerns among users, especially those with x86 computers, as the AI Explorer hardware requirements include an ARM64 CPU and Snapdragon functionalities.

Speculation is rife that this watermark may only be a feature of the beta version to help testers determine if their hardware can enable AI functions. However, if implemented permanently, it could lead to backlash from users who find such reminders intrusive.
