Google Cloud, Spotify Hit by Outages, Thousands Report Issues

Major online services experienced disruptions, with users reporting widespread problems accessing Google Cloud adn Spotify.

Thousands of users reported outages affecting Google Cloud and Spotify, according to Downdetector.com. Initial reports pointed to a meaningful Cloudflare outage as the potential cause.

Google Services Disrupted

The Google Workspace Dashboard indicated that the company was “investigating reports of an issue” impacting several Google services. These included Gmail,Google Calendar,Google Chat,Google Cloud Search,google Docs,Google Drive,Google Meet,Google Tasks,and Google Voice.

“We will provide more information shortly,” the statement read. “Our engineers are currently investigating the issue. We apologize to all who are affected by the disruption.”

The problems with Google and Google Cloud began shortly after 2 p.m. ET, affecting a range of Google services.Over 20,000 users reported issues, including problems with server connections and website access.

Google announced on the Dashboard just before 4 p.m. ET that the issue had been resolved.

“The problem with Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Chat, google Cloud Search, Google Docs, Google Drive, Google Meet, Google Tasks, and Google Voice has been resolved,” the post stated. “We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience and continued support.”

Spotify Also Experiencing Issues

Simultaneously occurring, Downdetector showed more than 40,000 reports of issues with Spotify. This outage also began around 2 p.m. ET.

As of 4 p.m. ET, Spotify remained down for thousands of users.
