According to reports, the juror may have indicated to a court officer that they resided in New Jersey, rather than the Bronx, which would make them ineligible for federal jury duty in Manhattan. “The changing answers and inconsistency give the court worry about deception and lying,which further implicate the veracity of other answers,including to questions that go to the heart of the case,” said U.S.District Judge ARUN SUBRAMANIAN. “Removal of the juror is required in this court’s view.”

With jury deliberations anticipated later in the month,Combs’ defense team urged the judge to retain the juror,citing concerns about maintaining the jury’s diversity. Removing the juror would result in their replacement by a middle-aged architect from Westchester, potentially altering the jury’s demographic composition.

The defense argued that the “lack of candor” claim was a strategic maneuver by prosecutors to eliminate a juror who might be more inclined to sympathize with SEAN “DIDDY” COMBS.

“It is going to be a less diverse jury. That is a fact,” defense attorney XAVIER DONALDSON said. “I don’t generally play the race card. I’m not saying I’m playing it now.”

The prosecution concluded its fifth week of presenting evidence, aiming to demonstrate that COMBS utilized his business ventures, financial resources, and influence to carry out a criminal scheme. The core allegations revolve around claims that the rapper-turned-fashion icon exploited his business empire to coerce women into unwanted sexual encounters at drug-fueled gatherings, where they were allegedly instructed to engage with male prostitutes for COMBS’ personal gratification.

COMBS has entered a plea of not guilty to charges including sex trafficking,racketeering conspiracy,and transportation to prostitution. His legal representatives contend that COMBS never coerced or trafficked anyone for sexual exploitation and that any women involved in his “polyamorous” lifestyle participated willingly.

The trial is scheduled to resume on Monday with the prosecution presenting its final witnesses. They may conclude their case as early as Wednesday.
