Google’s ongoing investment in Malaysia is projected to considerably boost the nation’s artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud computing economy.
Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul abdul Aziz recently engaged with Google representatives in Washington, United States, to explore avenues for the company to further stimulate AI development, enhance cybersecurity, and invest in digital skills within Malaysia.
“The government is committed to providing full support, and ensuring a conducive investment climate for high-quality investments,” Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul aziz stated in a facebook post.
He also noted that Google’s RM9.4 billion strategic investment to establish its first data center and Google Cloud region in Malaysia is anticipated to yield RM15.04 billion in long-term economic benefits and generate 26,500 jobs by 2030.
