An ex-psychologist is accused of having lacked moderation on social networks by linking all kinds of food and mental health.
Geneviève Labonté-Chartrand, who was a psychologist between 2008 and 2024, pleaded not guilty to two charges of offense tabled against her by the Quebec Order of Psychologists (OPQ).
In the complaint, the OPQ accuses him of having recommended a Gatineau patient whose identity is protected for consuming or avoiding certain specific foods “in order to restore her intestinal microbiota and treat her psychological symptoms” between 2019 and 2023, we read in the complaint. This patient was also followed in psychiatry.
Several reports
The order also accuses him of having lacked prudence by publishing “immoderate” remarks on Facebook and Instagram concerning the link between mental health and a variety of food (dairy products, gluten, soy, etc.). He is also criticized for making links with “brain toxicity”, intestinal inflammation and the quality of the stools, between 2021 and 2024.
No less than nine reports were made against Mme Labonté-Chartrand to the Order from August 2023, several of whom are health professionals.
Some questioned the videos broadcast on social networks where the respondent spoke of the harmful effects of the microwave and antidepressants, and the benefits of the sun, reported the OPQ trustee.
