Boseong Scholarship Foundation-International Recreation Agreement, held at 5 elementary schools in Gwangju
Globalization of future talent through traditional play experiences in countries such as Japan, the United States, and India
[서울경제TV 광주⋅전남=나윤상 기자] A future talent development program is being carried out for elementary school students in Gwangju through activities to experience traditional games from around the world, attracting attention.
According to the International Recreation Social Cooperative (International Cooperative) on the 11th, the ‘World Traditional Play Experience, a journey of dreams and talent to become a global talent for elementary school students’ was held at Gwangju Hyodong Elementary School on the 2nd and 3rd.
The World Traditional Play Experience is conducted under an agreement between the Boseong Scholarship Foundation and the International Cooperative, and is a program for future talents to encounter various cultures through traditional play experience activities from around the world and develop their capabilities as global talents with the value of understanding and respect for diversity appropriate for the era of globalization.
The main experiential activities are designed to help people understand and experience the cultural characteristics of each country, such as Japan’s Darumaotoshi, Indonesia’s Dragon Ball, America’s Limbo and Ghost Boxing, India’s Seven Stones, Mongolia’s Archery and Shagai, and the Philippines’ Jackstone Game.
One student who participated in the game said, “At first, I was worried and scared about what to do while seeing an unfamiliar country and unfamiliar rides, but after listening to the teacher’s explanation and playing with my friends, I came to understand the children of that country and it was fun.”
Lee Hwa-young, CEO of the Boseong Scholarship Foundation, said, “I think this experience of learning about globalization while enjoying various play experiences from around the world through play experts or multicultural understanding education instructors from a young age is more meaningful than any other scholarship project. We will continue to carry out this scholarship project to nurture global talent and find children’s dreams and talents.”
Kim Jae-il, CEO of International Recreation, also commented, “I can’t tell you how rewarding it is to see the bright future of our society in the beautiful sight of children being active, helping and caring for each other.”
Meanwhile, this experiential activity is scheduled to be conducted in one school each from each of the five districts of Gwangju City, starting with Hyodong Elementary School in Gwangju.
