by Archynetys News Desk

The celebrations of the hundredth anniversary of the birth of Giulio Gambelli arrive in New York. The Leopard at des Artistes restaurant, in the heart of Manhattan, hosted an event dedicated to Gambelli, from Poggibons, a legendary figure in oenology. A tribute to the man who, with his talent, contributed to making Tuscan wine an excellence in the world. The initiative, promoted and organized by Bianca Panichi (standing in the center of the photo of Tina Boyadjieva), granddaughter of the famous winemaker, with the support of the PR agency Colangelo & Partners, brought together some of the companies with which Gambelli has collaborated: Montevertine, Poggio di Sotto, Soldera Case Basse, Tenuta di Bibbiano and Villa Rosa. Bruce Sanderson, well-known journalist and critic of Wine Spectator, spoke. A cultural bridge between Italy and the USA: the figure of Gambelli, honored by the Municipality of Poggibonsi with a poster under the sign of ‘Bicchierino’, continues to inspire winemakers and enthusiasts: “Remembering my grandfather – explains Bianca Panichi – is a source of great pride for me. I thought a lot about him, about the young man who started from the Enopolio of Poggibonsi who, with determination, talent and humility, gave life to some of the most appreciated wines in the world. Bringing his memory to New York it means recognizing the universal value of his way of understanding wine: simple, sincere and profoundly human”.

A tasting of labels symbolizing Gambelli’s heritage also accompanied the celebrations for the hundredth anniversary of the birth of the famous Poggibonsese winemaker.
