Germany Fireworks Accidents: 2 Teens Die

Two 18-year-old men lost their lives in accidents with homemade fireworks in the German city of Bielefeld on New Year’s Eve, police said.

The accidents occurred at two different locations in Bielefeld in the West German state of North Rhine-Westphalia.

In Leipzig, a 16-year-old girl was seriously injured in the hand when she tried to light illegal fireworks, the police said. The teenager lost his little finger and parts of his ring finger.

During the previous New Year’s celebration at the beginning of 2025, five men lost their lives in fireworks accidents in Germany.
