Parents Outraged After German School Allegedly Retaliates Over Prank

A graduation ceremony at teh German College of Barranquilla was allegedly disrupted after a disciplinary incident earlier in the year.

Tensions are high among parents of the Klasse 12 graduating class at the German College of Barranquilla, following a controversial graduation ceremony. the source of the discontent stems from a disciplinary decision made by the institution after a school prank earlier this year.

The graduation ceremony, which took place this past Saturday, was marked by the absence of key faculty members during the diploma presentation, raising concerns among parents of the 72 graduating students.

The controversy traces back to an incident on March 14, when four students allegedly detonated a malodorous gas, known as the “Peo Atomic,” as a prank. the resulting odor was reportedly so potent that it affected two teachers, including an infant teacher, who suffered allergic reactions. According to reports, one of the affected teachers has filed a lawsuit.

in response to the incident, the German school initially suspended the four students involved and subsequently barred them from participating in the graduation ceremony.

Parents of the suspended students protested what thay perceived as a disproportionate punishment. One mother filed a legal challenge, resulting in the Oral Municipal Civil Court of Barranquilla issuing a provisional measure that mandated the school to allow two of the suspended students to attend the ceremony.

Subsequently, the school permitted all four suspended students to attend the graduation. However, parents allege that the school management retaliated by assigning two administrative officials to present the diplomas, instead of the rector or the teachers who had instructed the students for many years.

According to Zero zone, the ceremony included farewell speeches from three students and one parent, but lacked the traditional diploma presentations by faculty members.
