Fujairah Truck Parking: 8 Industrial Area Lots

by Archynetys News Desk

The Emirate of Fujairah has taken practical steps to regulate the movement of heavy trucks, by allocating a parking network distributed over a number of industrial areas, to address traffic congestion, improve the flow of movement, and separate heavy transport traffic from residential areas and public roads, in parallel with the industrial growth witnessed by the emirate, as it approved a project for truck parking with a capacity of up to 275 trucks distributed over eight industrial sites.

The Director General of the Fujairah Natural Resources Foundation, Engineer Ali Qasim, stated that the project is based on traffic planning that takes into account the nature of the use of industrial areas, and aims to manage the movement of trucks in an organized manner that reduces congestion and raises safety levels, noting that distributing parking spaces over more than one location gives flexibility in dealing with the increasing freight traffic.

He stated that the selection of parking locations was close to industrial areas that provide basic services to drivers and vehicles, which contributes to facilitating stopping and loading operations, without affecting the smooth flow of public roads.

The sites included the Thuban area, which accommodates 50 trucks, the Al-Siji area, which accommodates 20 trucks, Al Hail area, which accommodates 25 trucks, and Al-Riyamah, which accommodates 15 trucks, in addition to the Habhab site, which is the largest in terms of capacity, and accommodates 100 trucks, and the Masafi and Al-Tawain sites, which accommodates 25 trucks each, and the Buraq site, which accommodates 15 trucks, reflecting a thoughtful distribution that takes into account the needs of the various industrial areas.

Qasim pointed out that the project was not limited to allocating parking spaces, but rather included providing basic service facilities for drivers, including restrooms and highly efficient lighting systems that ensure clear vision during the night hours, in addition to organized entry and exit gates that enhance the flow of movement within the parking lots.

He stressed that the design of the parking lots took into account the safe distances between trucks, which contributes to improving the level of safety and reducing risks, pointing out that these measures come within an integrated project for truck parking in industrial areas.

He stressed that the implementation of the project comes within a general trend to regulate traffic, which reflects positively on the quality of life, noting that the parking lots contributed to reducing the accumulation of trucks on public roads and moving them away from residential areas.
